January and February took us all the way from Paris to Beijing, all by train. Spoiler – it wasn’t cheap.
Our first monthly budget update actually contains 2 months, since we left at the end of January, it doesn’t make sense to publish it separately.

We were only away for the last 10 days of January, but we still spent a fortune. Paris is ridiculously expensive and it shows. We even spent 3 of the 10 days staying with Katy’s aunt which cost us nothing in accommodation, and still we spent nearly £100 per day! Not a great start…

OK so this was so far over budget it’s ridiculous, but we knew this. The Trans Siberian cost a lot of money (I’ve not even included the visa costs here!) but it was well worth it. About the only bargains we had was Poland, which was very cheap and great value.
Total for Jan and Feb – £4,164.97
Oh dear. It had to get better from here surely…
